It's a Mario Kart Wii Birthday
Jun 15th
Today is Daniel’s 6th Birthday. Due to his birthday falling during the week we celebrated it on the previous Saturday.
When planning his birthday we had gone through many options of what to do for it. Finally we decided on what Daniel had requested the first time around, to have his friends over and play Mario Kart Wii.
It turns out Daniel’s idea of a party was a great idea. We had two Wii’s going with Mario Karts and kids every where. Daniel had a blast! The great part about Daniel’s friends is that a lot of them have little sisters who are Stephanie’s friends, so she had a great time too playing with her mates.
Daniel received lots of Lego, and racing car presents. Mummy and Daddy took the cake though with the gift of Super Mario Galaxy 2 for the Wii. Nanny and Pop did pretty good with Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga for the Wii, while Gran and Granddad’s gift of LEGO Pirate Code Game (3840) got the Daniel nod of approval too.
All in all I can’t believe that we have now been parents for six years.

Happy 3rd Birthday Stephanie
Apr 25th
On Saturday we celebrated Stephanie’s 3rd birthday.
Wow how time has flown. It seems like yesterday that she was born.
We held Stephanie’s birthday at jumping castle place called Monkey Joes. We invited 20 of Stephanie’s closest friends, which really meant 10 of Stephanie’s friends and their siblings, who were conveniently also Daniel’s friends. Both Daniel and Stephanie had TONS of fun. With three consecutive parties going on, Monkey Joes looked like organized chaos. Most parents realized the best they could do was to make sure they saw their kids barreling past every few minutes. Stephanie’s favorite are the huge inflatable slides. Anything that is “FAST” Stephanie loves. It’s like the saying from the movie Top Gun. “I feel the need…The need for speed!”
Present wise Stephanie received a Bike!, some dolls, tea party stuff, DVD’s and clothes. All in all it was a really fun day! Even the pouring rain couldn’t put a damper on the day.
A special thank you to Dave and Annie Spell (surrogate grandparents) and Whitney Warren (Daniel and Stephanie’s teacher) who all attended Stephanie’s Birthday party, just because they love her.
Traveling for work
Jan 10th
For the next two weeks I will be working in Florida. Finally after a couple of years the old BellSouth Data is being merged into the AT&T database and systems. Subsequently I am traveling to Orlando FL this week and Miami FL next week to hold the users hands as they get used to using a new system. I get to come home and see everyone for the weekend but fly out on the Sunday night.
Meanwhile back on the ranch Pen will be “Super Mom” looking after the two kids by herself. So far things look good as our neighbors Jason and Julie have invited Pen and the kids over for dinner tonight, and Pen’s friend Annie will be dropping by tomorrow night.
Last night Pen and I went out for dinner with our friends Brian and Jessica for my birthday. We went to Outback Steakhouse, where you can buy real Australian beer. James Boags Premium larger was my favorite beer in Australia and it is offered at Outback Steakhouse. We had a fantastic time hanging out with Brian and Jessica and wish we could do it more often. A big thanks to Annie who came over to babysit the kids.
Daniel's 5th Birthday Party
Jun 13th
We had Daniel’s 5th Birthday Party today. On request from Daniel it was a Transformers themed party. It’s a good thing we set the time to be 11:00am because one of his friends (Jay) who was born 3 days earlier then him is also having a Transformer themed birthday party today, but at 1:30pm.
Along with the Transformer theme we also had two slip and slides, two wading pools and many water pistols.
The first hour was spent with the kids having a blast with the water activities. The most popular thing at the start was the water pistols. Even Stezza was walking around with a water pistol trying to shoot people. By the end though it was the slip and slide that could have two people on it at the same time that was the most popular.
Cake and the Happy Birthday song were carried out around 12:00pm, followed by the destroying of an Optimus Prime Piñata. By 12:30pm Daniel was opening his presents. Man was he focused. He just wanted to open present after present after present. He hardly stopped to look at anything. At least when he opened our presents (a Bulkhead transformer and a Bakugan tin with two Bakugan’s in it) he stopped and said something. For pretty much everything else it was open, go to the next present. Open, go to the next present.
By 1:15pm everyone had gone. By 1:30pm Daniel was out the door heading to Jay’s birthday party. Stephanie was down to sleep and I was able to clean up a bit. All in all I think we had about 50 people here for Daniel’s party.
This afternoon we have a pool party to go to. It is one busy day.
Stephanie is 2!
Apr 27th
Stephanie turned 2 last weekend. We had a birthday party with lots of Stephanie’s friends. The theme was Tinkerbell, who Stephanie didn’t know of until the day, but as soon as she saw pictures of Tink everywhere and knew Tink’s name, she was proudly stating “I love Tinkerbell!”. Many presents were opened and a great time was had by all.

Over the weened I also ran a golf tournament. The tournament was to raise money for the Single Mothers of Gwinnett. We had 40 guys turn out to play and we raised over $1200 for the Single Mothers. Dad was a big help on the day, manning the Hole In One hole and helping with registrations.

Sadly though this weekend Nanny and Pop headed home after three weeks with us. We loved having them here, and the kids especially loved the attention that was lavished upon them. Thank you Nanny and Pop for the visit and we hope you come again soon.

Happy New Year!
Dec 31st
Ah, it seems the days where we went out and partied all night while seeing in the New Year in are long gone. For New Years Eve this year we had some of our good friends over who all have kids about the same age as ours.
This meant the party started at 5:00pm, we were all eating dinner by 5:45pm, and the party was all done by 8:30pm. How’s that for efficient partying?
Just like the parties from our youth, the house got trashed. As per the parties of our youth it was the young people (read kids) who trashed it. One thing we have learnt about having kids aged 4 and younger is if they visit one of their friends houses, all of the toys and I mean ALL of the toys get pulled out.
Of course once they are done with the toys the kids then leave them for half the parents to clean up, while the other half try to round the kids up and get them ready to head home.
We had a fantastic time (and so did the kids)!
Happy Birthday to my Mum, who’s birthday is on the 1st of January (as I write this it’s already the 1st in Australia), and Happy New Year to everyone else. I hope 2009 is all you wish it to be.
